Random intermittent signal levels

Okay, hoping someone can provide some insight since Verizon has been useless in this regard :)

Got a FIOS set up, one M-card in my Premiere. Seems like every few weeks, the signal goes haywire. One channel might have a signal level of 85, another might be 25, another might be 0. Nothing changes physically regarding wires, etc. Rebooting the TiVo does nothing. Having Verizon reboot the ONT does noting as well. This always goes away on its own after a day or two. Meanwhile, I can barely watch TV.

Verizon has not been able to figure out what is going on...everything inside my house seems okay. I do have an OOB SNR or 3 db, but otherwise the signal levels are okay (I have used attenuators as needed also).

They're sending me new cablecards, but I doubt they will solve the problem.

Any insight? Thanks!

I'm in the same boat right now with Bravo, TLC and Starz Edge. For some reason the signal is all over the place. I've tried multiple cable cards. The channels work fine on my Verizon STB. I'm going to check cables next. It's odd.

Weather related? Are any cables exposed to where somebody could bump into them, possibly in a storage closet that's infrequently accessed? Sounds kinda like a cable issue somewhere....I had alot of problems like this until I went through and replaced all the connectors in my wiring closet.
Wouldn't a cable problem affect all channels though?

Joe
If you are ready to take a shot in the dark, redo ALL of your coax connectors.
Nope, not environmental. Inside a building where wiring doesn't move nor is it accessible by people :)

Yes, it does affect all channels, but if there's enough signal strength those channels in particular won't be affected.

Are you the only one with the problem? When it's acting up, could you have a neighbor (as close as possible) check signal levels at that location?
You should still check all connections. Even inside a building you get temperature variations.
If you (or a neighbor) have a spare cable box to try on that outlet you can check signal strength yourself. If that's not it, your tuner might be dying.
I've seen the same symptoms both when I had a single faulty crimp connection indoors where it wasn't touched and when the tuner died on my S3 :-(
