Question on the TiVo N adapter, for network experts

I have three TPs connected to my N wireless router at the 5Ghz using the TiVo wireless N adapter. My question is this, all three of the TPs have fixed IP address with the last digits in the 20s, I just look at what is attached to my router and found three items with the last digit in the IP address of 7,8, and 9 having the name TIVOWIRELESSN-(40:C0:D0: ) the info in the () is different for each IP address, but I do not see the fixed IP address of the TPs themselves. When I put the IP address into my browser I get back this:

Status information
Connection status: Connected

Network name: daniels5Ghz

Channel: 153

Passphrase: ******

Security mode: WPA2

Hardware version: FF03

Firmware version: V1.1.E1

MAC address: 00:11:D9:40:8D:88

Note: The TiVo Wireless N Adapter will retain its settings even if powered down.If you need to reconfigure your adapter,it must first be reset to factory defaults!

Does anybody know what going on?, the TiVos work great and MRV is over 50Mbts so all is working as expected but I must be using two IP address for each TiVo. (This board put the icons in the mac address)

With my old Wireless G Linksys router, I can see what IP's have been handed out via DHCP, but not the IP of fixed IP units.

Are you sure you aren't seeing your neighbors' TiVos accessing your router, either accidently or otherwise?
You can map your network like this:

Open your command line in Windows, and enter this:

FOR /L %i IN (1,1,254) DO ping -n 1 192.168.1.%i | FIND /i "Reply">> c:\used_ips

(if you have vista or win7, you'll need to right click on the cmd.exe before you run it and select "run as administrator" or it won't give you access to make the output file)

it will ping everything in the 192.168.1.x segment and make a file in the root of c called used_ips with the ones that answered. Great way to map your network that may have static IPs you forgot.

You can see EXACTLY what's on your network (assigned and static IPs) using the above.
Hi I'm new to this board, but I saw your question.

The list of Mac Addresses the to IP addresses on a typical router is the DHCP list. Which as stated earlier only shows the dynamically assigned IP addreses.

That doesn't mean the TP's aren't connected and working.

As stated by the 3rd post you can ping them from your computer they are good :)

Is that a Linksys Wireless N router? I've had reall issues with Linksys btw.

If that's a concern, you can add MAC filtering to your network to help ensure only approved MACs can connect.

No neighbors are involved, each TiVo on the N adapter have two IP addresses, one for the TiVo itself that is fixed with the last two digits in the 20s (IE 192.168.0.23) and another for the N adapter in the single digits (ie 192.168.0.07). If I ping that 07 IP I get a return, if I unplug that N adapter I get no return from the ping on 07. I can also get into my TiVo NPL by using the address https://192.168.0.23 (with the N adapter plug in), if I put in the N adapter address http://192.168.0.7 I get back what I showed you in the first post that I did in bold (it's in color also) Everything works without problems I was just surprised that each N adapter takes up two IP addresses on my router, one i can set the other is coming from the DHCP server on the router; all i wanted to know is this normal for a bridge type adapter and why does the system need two IPs per TiVo, I have a boat load of addresses so that not a problem.
The router is a Netgear WNDR3700
The 192.168.0.23 address is the (statically defined by you) IP address of the Tivo. The 192.168.0.7 address is the (router-assigned via DHCP) IP address of the adapter itself.

Your TiVo Wireless N Adapter needs an IP address so that it can automatically check for firmware updates. Additionally, you can check the adapter's status using the same IP address.
By default, the adapter obtains an IP address automatically using DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). If you want to specify the IP address manually, use the "Advanced Settings" page.

Thanks, that is the answer to my question.
