Question about Direct TV and tivo

If you have Direct tv do you have to use a directivo or can you use a standalone?

You can use a standalone, but most of us feel you're better off with the DirecTiVo.

Where do you get a direcTivo now that Direct TV is pushing their own DVR?

What about service for a direcTivo...will it be cut off sometime this year.

Problem: I have a SA tivo with cable. The cable bill has gone up again and I am tired of working with them. I want to get a DirecTivo for the family room and move the SA back to the guest room.

Any suggestions?
