Hi, I got PyTivo pulling shows from my Tivo HD.The first one seems OK but all the rest are 500MB or less, when they are reported at 3 - 5GB. I'm only doing 5 at a time in the download queue. The Tivo HD is connected Ethernet, as is the PC running PyTivo. What can I do to get good copies?

If you are running Windows, is the drive in NTFS or FAT32 format? With FAT32, its limited to under 2GB in file sizes.

Any chance they may be MPEG4/h.264?

But then again, S3 doesn't transfer MPEG/h.264.

check the channel FXHD-E and others, might be h.264

Tune to those channels and then go to Messages & Settings / Account & System Info/ DVR diagnostics.... should be on line Video PID: (xxx)

But on my S3, it says (unknown) while its tuned to any channel.
On Roamio, it say (MPEG2) and I am all OTA.

Looking the recordings over, is it possible I got audio only? The small ones play audio only. All the small ones are from FXHD-E or AMCHD-E. The only large one didn't have a -E at the end of the channel name.

The case of audio only, no video on a downloaded show and you used Program Stream (PS) usually indicate its MPEG4 and must be downloaded by Transport Stream (TS) method.

S3 does not support TS.

I got home and tried to transfer a program in to my Roamio from PyTivo and got an error about "Transferring prohibited by copyright holder". Then I was able to transfer directly from my HD. This is all confusing me, and I'm a computer guy!!

To transfer recordings from my Tivo HD to a PC, it's a two step process because the recordings are h.264 encoded.
1) Go to Tivo #2 (Roamio in my case), browse to the Tivo HD from the Roamio and transfer files from the Tivo HD to the Roamio
2) Go to kmttg or pyTivo Desktop and download the program from the Roamio to the PC.

OP is on v20.7.4, but for others, your statement is correct.
Fantastic!! Thanks. I have the new Roamio set up without the cable card for the time being. I found "System Info" and I have OS V. 20.7.4b. I have a friend with Hydra so I'll go look at his and see if I like it. What are the differences I'm looking for?

I gave up on PyTivo and am just transferring them manually a couple at a time. Seems to be working OK. I'm going to hold back on the upgrade to Hydra because things work OK now. I have a friend with Hydra and I'm going to have him show me around it.
