Right now when I upload video files to my Tivos from pytivo, only the file name shows up as the Title. Is there any way to add description and other TiVo-friendly metatags before pushing a video or movie file to my TiVo?

If they're TV shows you should try MetaGenerator3 it'll generate the metadata files automatically just by picking a show/episode from a simple UI.

If these are personal files then you'll have to do the metadata file by hand.
