If the unit does not clear itself (it can take more or less than 3 hours) try to skip the error messages and get to the messages and setup screen, then the restart/reset menu, then do a clear and delete everything. That will get rid of all the garbage and any settings that may be interfering with your setup. Once you get past all this you will be able to use it as you planned.
