Programming glo remote

Hi - We just got a glow remote for our tivo HD and I have a question before I mess it up! Can I switch the DVR switch to the 2nd dvr switch and then program the play/pause/ff/rr buttons to control my DVD player and then switch back to 1 and retain control of my tivo?
