I am having a wierd problem recording HD/Letterbox programs from the local PBS Chanel (WGBH). If I record the show manually by tuning it in and then pushing the record button on the TIVO everything is fine and the show plays from the recording in full-screen 16:9 configuration.

However, if I record it through the TIVO record menus, the HD broadcase replays in letterbox with gray panels on the sides to form a 4:3 screen shape and then black bands at the top and bottom of the 4:3 window to accomodate the 16:9 broadcase feed. I have tried everything to get it to play properly, but nothing seems to work.

I do not have similar problems with other OTA or satelite channels.

Anyone have any ideas?

Had a similar issue once when a family member recorded channel 6 (SD D*) instead of 6.1(HD OTA). That would be the NBC affiliate here WTVJ. She searched for what she wanted, but missed on the channel to be recorded. I have since removed the local D* from the HR10-250 line-up. May not be your issue, but just a thought..
