Thanks!

Is there any limit to the number of times you can request a refund within the the 30 day period?
Not that I've ever seen.
I got my refund already. Whee!

Me too! Thanks again.
I like this...Im in again for $4.48 refund
Is this probably the lowest we'll see it for a while?
This seems as good a thread for my question as any....

If the Tivo HD is $249, and the original Series3 is now $374.99 (Amazon discount, plus $200 rebate), which should I buy?

Has this issue already been thrashed out on another thread? I haven't been around this forum for a few years, since I bought my Series2. But now I'm about to buy an HDTV, so it's back to obsessive researching. If the price difference were more significant (as it was when the HD first came out), I'd have no problem picking the HD.

So... which would you buy if you were upgrading from a Series2?
Series 3, hands down...but I'm biased because I own one...let's just say that if I bought a TiVoHD today, it would in no way, shape or form supplant the S3 in my living room, but a S2DT in the bedroom.

Basically just weigh the differences and you'll have to decide if it's worth it for you. The S3 has a bigger hard drive, so that means you can record more. And the eSATA port can be used now to upgrade it even more (but the HD should eventually be getting this). It's THX certified (if that makes a difference to you). And it has an OLED screen that displays what it's actually recording on the front.
Edit: And oh yeah it also comes with the glow-remote. It's a nice remote design.

Other than that, the two are essentially the same. Personally, I would probably just go for the HD just because it's cheaper. Later when the eSATA is enabled you should be able to buy a new hard drive to add additional hours for the cost difference. The screen on the front is really nice, but unnecessary.

Just curious why. Storage space, asthetics or remote? Or all of the above? I have a S3, looking to get another S3 or HD so I'm in a similar situation.
woohoo, just put my request in for $18. thanks for the heads up!

All of the above...aesthetics mostly, I get rave reviews for my S3 and for whatever reason, the TiVoHD reminds me of an S1 (looks wise). If I had to choose a 2nd TiVo, I'd get an S3.
My 2nd Tivo is currently in my bedroom, and I watch it very rarely (I'm not crazy about TV in the bedroom, but it does come in handy).

The TivoHD is definitely attractive because I'll only need 1 cable card (M card) which is only $1.50, and when MRV is enabled, I can transfer a show to the bedroom if I want to lay down and watch something that is on my main TV. So for me, it's definitely the TivoHD. The smaller hard drive is irrelevant as I'll use it mostly for transfers and not for actual SPs.

I was due for a $4.48 refund also, but they gave me another $16 off. I guess the customer service people cannot add well. I put all the discounts I already had in the refund email. I guess I confused them, but I cannot complain since now I got the Tivo for $237.

As of Monday morning, the Series3 is now $368.98 with the rebate, right?

Nope. That's Electronics Expo's price not Amazon's. Taking into account shipping Amazon's $574.99 with free shipping is still cheaper.
Well, they got me. I ordered two and got another $8 off for $241 each. I don't know where the $8 credit on next order came from, and I don't wanna know. :D

Now I have to talk myself into a 750GB drive at today's prices.

If you are on MSD @ $6.95 this TiVoHD is a good deal for many folks.
