Premiere won't connect to the network when connected to a DAP-1522

I'm at my wits' end trying to figure out this network problem.

I have a Tivo Premiere connected to a wifi bridge (D-link DAP-1522) via ethernet cable. The DAP-1522 connects to a D-Link DIR-825 wifi router. Whenever the Premiere is connected to the DAP-1522 it can't find the network (either N07 or N13 errors). However, all of my other equipment connected to the DAP-1522 has no problem connecting to the internet; including a TiVo HD.

I have two DAP-1522 and both give me the same problem with the Premiere. The DIR-825 router does assign an IP address to the Premiere thus it's sees the TiVo. However, if the Premiere is connected directly to the router it can connect to the internet. I've checked all of the settings in the router's setup and I can't find the problem. I've tried opening the ports used by TiVo and made sure the IP address listed at the link below weren't being blocked.

I've seen a number of other posts were the DAP-1522 works fine with their Premieres. Any advice is much appreciated.

I don't have the same router as you, but I have a Premiere hooked up through at DAP-1522 with no issues. However, it took some fiddling with the DAP - once I got it working with a notebook, the Tivo worked right away.
Thanks jfh3.

Not sure why the Premiere wouldn't work when all of the other devices worked just fine for years (and I've added new equipment all through out that time with no issues). I ended up installing the latest firmware (1.31) on both of my DAP-1522s, reset the bridges (numerous times), and resetup all of my equipment. The Premiere is now able to connect through the DAP-1522 (at least for now).

Now I can sit back and relax for a bit after spending ~8 hours trying to isolate the issue and troubleshooting my network.
I stopped using my DAP-1522 because I had trouble connecting in 'n' mode (and to another D-Link). Even with another bridge I ended-up setting my Tivo to a static-IP so you might try that, too, if you continue having trouble.
I've not had any issues with my DAP1522 boxes and Premieres but I also use several DAP1522 units in AP mode and several in bridge mode. I also use a DGL4500 gaming router and have my TiVos IP addresses setup by DHCP reservations in the router.
This is a bit infuriating ... I finally had the TiVo Premiere setup in my office. Ran it through it's paces and no problems once it finally connected to the internet 8 days ago.

I decided to move that box to the living room and now it can't find a connection again. None of my other devices have this issue including a Tivo HD! What's even more frustrating is the Premiere is stuck on the HDUI. If I try and go to any of the Messages and Settings options it just kicks me back to the main HDUI. I can't reset the Premiere without pulling the plug, can't do a clear and delete to start over, and can't revert to the SDUI. The box states that since it's not connected to the internet some of the functionality is disabled; really, why disable the settings features on the box which is not internet dependent? The format button to switch between the different resolutions doesn't even work.

Any one know of any secret remote codes to revert back to the SDUI or start the TiVo setup all over again?

I finally got the Premiere to connect in the living room. I had to reboot both bridges, revoke the currently assigned IP address for the Premiere, and disconnect all other wired devices. Once the bridges rebooted and the Premiere was assigned an IP address I was able to reconnect the remaining devices back to the shared bridge.

I noticed a couple of peculiar behaviors with the Premiere

1) If the Premiere boots up without an internet connection the user is stuck at the main HDUI screen. You can't get to the other screens (e.g. Messages & Settings; can't even put the DVR in standby). However, if the Premiere boots with an internet connection and then that connection is lost you can still access these other menu screens.

2) On the DAP-1522, under Setup -> Wireless -> Wireless MAC cloning, the "enable" checkbox must be checked for the Premiere to access an internet connection (an IP address is assigned to the Premiere regardless if this box is checked or not). The Tivo HD and my other internet devices will connect with either configuration (checked or not checked).

Thus I'm led to believe the Premiere handles it's internet connection differently from other internet devices including the Tivo HD. However, maybe I have my router/bridge set in a specific way that the Premiere doesn't like.

I'd like to compare settings with someone else who has successfully used a DAP-1522 with a Premiere (I'm also using a D-Link DIR-825 wi-fi router).

I don't do any MAC cloning with my Dap1522 units. I only set them up with a static ip address whether I have them in bridge mode or ap mode. They have been fine in my use.
I believe the MAC cloning is enabled by default and it's set to auto. I recently reset all of my bridges and I noticed if I disabled it the Premiere wouldn't see an internet connection (e.g. if I disable it and reboot the bridge then the Premiere can't see the internet connection) but all of my others devices could care less whether it's enabled or not. I'll have to do some more experimentation to see if I can pin point the issue.

My DAP-1522 units also have static IP addresses. Do you have firmware version 1.31 installed too?
I think I've had the same firmware for the last couple of years. I'll have to check to see what version it is.

I just checked. All my DAP1522 units are using the 1.21 firmware. I don't usually update the firmware in my routers/AP/media bridges unless I'm having an issue. The firmware that these have has been rock solid for me and I've had no issues so I had no reason to update them.

What kind of connection are you getting, both in connect-rate and wi-fi mode (G/N/A)? 2.4 or 5 GHz? WEP, WPA or naught?

Thanks. I had 1.20 or 1.21 (don't remember which) when I was first experiencing this issue with the Premiere. I upgraded to 1.31 and initially had the same issue until I reset the bridges. At least with the DAP-1522s you can downgrade the firmware. I won't go back right now since I know how to get the Premiere to work with the DAPs. I'll continue to experiment to see what happens though.

I only run WPA2. But I run both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz since I have four APs setup.
For the Premiere I get iedentical speeds connected to teh Bridge as when it's connected to my wired gigabit network.(85mb/s to 95 mb/s)
If I only had one AP I would not be able to get those speeds with my wirelesss devices.
I am having some trouble here as well.. maybe someone can help me with these DAP-1522 - they seemed good for the price, after having quite a bit of trouble getting the first one I bought (of 3) configured to even work on the network, I now have it working in Bridge mode and connected to 2 tivo's that are in the same room.

I am unable to use MRV or transfers, the connection just dies...

any help?
