Premiere sound delayed

1262 Views 11 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  aadam101
Hi all,

Sometimes, when I start to playback a program, I get a picture, but no sound. If I replay or rewind, the sound is fine. If I do nothing it takes 10-15 seconds for the sound to start. Anyone else seen this?

It's not consistent for a program or across programs.

Thanks!

Hi, I am having the exact same problem last 2 weeks on my brand spanking new premiere. Every time I go to the main menu and select a recorded show - No sound will play for first 10-20 secs then the sound starts. Ramdomly happens when you change channels or recorded shows. I rebooted the Tivo 2 times but no luck fixing this. It may be a new feature which got added in the last week or two. 'Temporary "take a break" silence' between two shows. I cannot wait for what will be added next... :). Hopefully more people have seen this else we will have to call ourselves lucky winners... Andi
I haven't experienced this, but I do get a slightly similar audio problem. Every rare now and then, I get an "echo effect," where 1 channel of the audio is slightly behind the other, making my program sound like I am watching it in a great hall. It goes away if I FF, RW or hit the replay button.

Got that kind of thing, too, but 2-3 seconds, not 10-15.
Please tell us how your audio and video connections are set up. In other words, what components do you use (amplifiers, external speakers, TV speakers, etc.), and which cables are in play?

This will help us diagnose the problem.
Until I saw this threaqd, I thought it was the TV.

HDMI to the TV, which redirects audio to a receiver.

It sounds like a digital audio anomaly. If you're sending digital audio from the TV to the receiver, try using analog instead. And if that's already analog, try using analog audio from the TiVo to the TV. Since the TiVo apparently can't turn off HDMI audio, I guess you would have to try using component video (red/blue/green) with the analog audio.

Send HDMI from the TiVo (and the rest of your sources) to the receiver. Then you'll only need one HDMI cable from the receiver to your display.

HDMI Cable straight from the Tivo to my TV, that's it.

2-3 second audio delay for me.
Mine has been doing this for a while. I chalked it up to another bug I will just have to live with it since Tivo doesn't care enough to fix it.
