All of my TiVos are on a UPS. You can get a cheap one for about $30 and eliminate this problem completely. Not only that but the TiVo will continue to record during brief power outages as well, which is nice.

Premiere sensitive to voltage sag?
Lately my premiere started resetting itself. Thought it was a problem with the external drive, so I replaced. Still got resets. Then I noted that the resets occurred on the days my wife used the clothes iron. Sure enough, the iron creates a slight voltage sag on the circuit when it switches to draw current for heat.
No other electronics are affected this way on this circuit. Tried a few other irons with even lower wattage but still have the same problem. Anyone else have this kind of issue? There is nothing unusual about the overall load on this particular circuit (bedroom, new house)

Thank you! I forgot to mention that I put a UPS in place - the sag was not enough to even trigger the UPS. So the TiVo rebooted again. External hard drive and the UPS itself didn't notice a thing.
I've had something like this with old pinball and arcade machine boards - slight sags causing a reset.
You need a better UPS or have the ironing done on a different circuit. I would suggest seeing what other devices are on the circuit drawing power as well.
I suspect your home's electrical system is partly at fault, with fewer circuits and your electrical panel is under 100 amps, but anyways.
You should move your high draining devices, such as the iron to another circuit. Using a UPS is good, there are better UPS such as from APC, they call those Smart UPS, or UPS Backups, where it monitors the current and ups the power to standard voltage whenever there is a drain such as brownouts.

Get a UPS where you can set the upper and lower volatge point that it will start running on battery. My APC UPSs let me set this in the Power Chute osftware., Plus it allows me to disable any alarms so I never have to hear an alrm when the UPS goes to battery.
Which specific UPSes are like that, and how much do they cost?
My APC units I use let me set the voltage. I use the XL or XS models. I think the lowest priced one I have is a 1000VA one I got for around $100. My 1500VA units also have an extended runtime battery so those were around 2.5 times as much with both units.
But you can also get cheaper UPS untis that should still protect from voltage sags. The ones I got for my girlfriend were little 300VA units and they worked fine for powering the TiVo for a short time. She has never had any issues with voltage sags from it. She has the same issue when Ironing. The lights will dim alot.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I purchased a better UPC with improved voltage control, and this seems to protect against the sags. For what it is worth, TiVo doesn't have a tech support record of specific issues with voltage sensitivity for any models - good news.
