I have a premiere with lifetime service at our primary. We recently purchased a summer home and rather than sign up for cable service there since it wont be year round, we have been using youtube tv. It has worked ok but the price jumped to $65/month so I'm looking into other options. Here is my question.

Will the Tivo stream in conjunction with the premiere at home allow me to view the shows stored at the other house?

Is there a way to view live tv from the other house?

Is there a way to schedule and/or delete shows remotely from the premiere?

Is there a different option besides the stream to look into? I used to use pytivo a long, long time ago to pull shows from the premiere to a server in the home but am looking for a more streamlined option.

No, you cannot stream out-of-(other)home. (tivo-to-tivo)

There are workarounds to consider. KMTTG, download prior to leaving to 2nd home, and port-forwarding set in your (other)home's router to allow downloads from out-of-home. You would need to know the current IP address for your other home, if you set for port-forwarding. You can then set a Tivo in KMTTG to access them from outside. Its a bit complicated, but it will work if done right. Basically, you need to set 3 ports to forward for each Tivo box. After the shows are downloaded, use PyTivo (or PyTivo Desktop), while on 2nd home's network and transfer to this Tivo from the Shows/Play list.

Sorry, I explained that badly. The second home doesnt have a tivo - we have a htpc there that we use to watch YouTube TV. Not sure if that changes anything

@ascuser forget about Stream hardware, that's not what it's for. What you want to try are the TiVo Android or iOS apps, which will allow local and remote streaming from your TiVo DVR, though not all recordings will be available when you're remote because of digital rights and copy protection issues.

You can also use those apps set up OnePasses and do other management of your TiVo remotely. As far as I know the web-based TiVo Online is still not useful for remote streaming. A lot has been changing at TiVo lately, so I don't know how well any of this is working now, but those are your options.

Just to be clear, there have been two TiVo products called "Stream":

• The original and now discontinued TiVo Stream allowed you to stream from a Premier or Roamio to handheld devices in your home on the same local network. It did not enable out-of-home access to your TiVo DVR.
  
• The new TiVo Stream 4K at this time does not even connect to *any* TiVo DVR, inside or outside your network. It is just for streaming from other services, in a partnership with Sling to provide a live TV streaming and cloud DVR service, and also as a platform for Netflix, Prime, and other streaming apps.
• Neither of these does what you want. Try the apps.

A TiVo Stream (not the TiVo Stream 4k but the discontinued Stream) would allow you to download shows to a phone/tablet. If your cable company puts DRM on any of the channels, you will not be able to download while out of home. In that setup, you can download to an iPhone or iPad and use Airplay to put it on a AppleTV. Android can cast the screen of your phone/tablet to a Chromecast. The video quality of these options is barely passable.

You could do the above for "live" viewing, but in reality you are starting a recording for the show, streaming it, then deleting it.

Again, either of the above options are of poorer picture quality and abysmal user experience.

What you probably want is a Slingbox hooked up to a TiVo Mini in your house.

Your cable company credentials from the primary are sufficient to get you access to the on demand libraries of many cable networks. Some of the network websites also do live feeds.

Either the TiVo website or the app permit that.

Its similar, you would just be playing the shows downloaded on the PC through to the TV.

Alright- what if I upgraded to a Bolt? Will the bolt by itself support the streaming out of the house that i am looking for?

Based on the threads I've read, I couldnt get a conclusive answer

No, Tivo to Tivo streaming is only when you are on the same network.

What @ThAbtO said. If you want remote streaming, upgrade to something else. Like Channels DVR.
