Premier loosing cablecard pairing

Ok, Should I be looking at the cablecard or the TiVo when the pairing goes away at least once a week? Happened twice this week and the cable company is sending someone out tomorrow, supposedly with a bunch of cablecards. I have warranty on my TiVo for another couple of weeks so I just want to make sure its not the TiVo.

I think I read on here that the premiere works better if the card had gold contacts.
I suspect it is something perfectly legal, but infrequent that the cable company is doing which confuses the lame software in the tivo. My cable card stopped working two or three times a few weeks ago, and I had to power cycle the tivo to get it back each time, but since that spurt of failures, it has been rock solid. (Quick! Where's some wood to knock on?)

My problem is, its happening almost every Monday night so Eureka, Warehouse 13 & Alphas won't record. And that is my wife & my Monday night date night activities.

I'm OTA only (and glad of it). But I wouldn't be surprised if your problem is due to some provisioning error by the cable company (on their end IOW) rather than any type of hardware problem with either unit. Could their equipment be renewing your cable card's lease (or some such thing) every Monday?
Not loose at all. Just got a new one installed yesterday and it worked when the installer left, but today I get no digital &/or HD channels :( Time to go through all my season passes & switch them to SD channels.

I'm about ready to tell my cable company to screw it, but I'm under contract w/ TiVo so its hard to.

I've had that happen with a cable card a few years ago. Everything was working and the installer left, then a few hours later it died. I couldn't get any of the digital channels.
So they replaced the card and it was fine and I never had an issue with the replcement card.

It took me 6 months to get them to admit I had a problem with something. I.E. I'm at the end of my rope on this. I'm about ready to pay the $20 a month to use my Premier as an OTA tuner only. And then going with Dish or DirectTV.

I think some respondants might be making a joke related to your spelling error in the subject line...

As for the CableCARDs themselves... Some cable companies are really ignorant about them. If your tech is coming out with a bunch of cards, it wouldn't hurt anything to just have them swap them out, re-initialize them, and then see if that solves the issue.

In five years of running cards on my first-gen S3, I've had one card go bad (requiring replacement) and the card signal go out maybe twice (but never on both cards at the same time), requiring a reboot from the cable company.

Well, my cable company is a bunch of morons, and a buyout probably doesn't help at all. Tonight I will be on a 3 way call w/ TiVo and my cable company to see if that fixes anything. If not, at least I tried and hopefully TiVo can do something to help me out other than a $220 ETF.
Well, just got a reply from the rental company. Even though some people that moved in after us have DISH & DirectTV they are not allowing installations anymore :( Looks like I will have to keep my TiVo no matter what now.
Was just thinking, could I have SDV and not know it? Therefore without a tuning adapter my TiVo will always have "issues"?

Found out the installer for the cable company gave them incorrect data for the pairing. Working fine now *knocks on wood*.

Just FYI...your rental company cannot stop you from getting satelite tv. They can restrict where you put your dish which might prevent you from getting a signal, but they cannot stop you from trying to get dish or direct tv, it's against federal law.
