Did you reimage the new hard drive with MFSTools or Instacake in your PC first?
powering up cycle
I have a series 1 directtv tivo and it has now started to cycle. it will say "powering up" then it flashes snow then starts over again. I have replaced the hard drive but that did not solve the issue.
