My father Plugged his series2 HD into his DSR6000. When that didn't work he put the original DSR6000 HD back and now it won't boot. The Tivo powers up to the "Welcome Powering up" screen and stays there.
I created an image of the drive using MFS Tools and put it on another drive. That didn't work. I have the same DSR6000 he does, so I used my backup image to create a Drive using another 80 Gig drive. I tried different ribbon cables, pined the drive out as master, slave and Cable select. The Tivo powers up to the "Welcome Powering up" screen and stays there indefinitely.
I can see the light diod on the HD blinking for about a minute after turning on the Tivo so I know that the drive is spinning and being read, but to no avail.
I tried taking out the CMOS battery and shorting the connecters where the battery goes. This idea came from a post I read saying that it might reset the BIOS. That doesn't work.
Is putting the wrong hard drive into a Tivo a know issue? I've been searching these threads but can't seem to find an answer.
Thanks for any help I can get on this issue.
