i have direct tv but i have it through my community.(we have a main sattilite for the community through a company called MDU. I purchaced a dvr + system from Best Buy. hooked it up. now as it goes through the setup process i get an error when it tries to get signals.(It looks like this 90 0 95 0 85 0 90 somthng like that.) 0but it will let me just bypas it and go to the next step. but at step 9 (aquiring data) it stays there and wont do anything it stays at 0%.dtv tech support said it shouldnt have those zeros in between. but it should still allow me to bypass it, however i may not get all channels. but it wont let me do ne thing. Dtv says i have to call MDU because ofcourse they're the providers for the main dish in the community. But dtv tech support seems 2b stumped becuse , when i hook up my regular reciver it works perfect. Ofcourse mdu says they dont trouble shoot over the phone so they will come out and install it for 99.95$. DTV say that they cant understand y it wont work. i even took it back to best buy and got a nother one. same problem.... so upset

please help :(

You have a stacked system. You need a desacker, or if you have the R15 DirecTV+ receiver, set to stack mode.

It could be that the dish for the community isn't properly aligned and isn't receiving signal from the satelite that the TiVo receiver needs to download from. If I understand correctly, there are 3 satelites for Standard definition TV and even more for HDTV. If the dish is only receiving signal from two of those satelites, perhaps the third is what sends out all the program updates, guide info, etc that the TiVo uses.

It sounds to me like you need to mount your own dish or complain enough to the company to come out and adjust their dish correctly. You shouldn't have to pay for repairs to their faulty equipment.

i thought so too but the tech from dtv said it doesnt need ne more signal than my regular reciver, which works fine. and even if the dvr is no recviving full signal, it should still go through the steps but i just wont see my channels.but that doesnt even happen.
