I purchased a Hughes Network Systems Direct TV Tivo; model# GXCEBOT on ebay. The remote didn't look right when I viewed the pics on ebay, but since I never owned this model, I didn't get too concerned.

I just hooked it up after ordering a new access card, and discovered the remote won't control the Hughes TIVO box.

The top of the remote has this on it: HRMC-11. There is also no TIVO button, so I assume this remote doesn't go with this box. Can someone confirm that from the link to the ebay ad and looking at the pictures:

Can I program a Sony SAT-T60 remote to control this Hughes box? (I have one of those)

If not, where can I obtain a replacement remote for this Hughes Tivo box?

Thanks.

Any Tivo peanut remote will control your GXCEBOT. If you missed out on the woot deal then you can find some inexpensive Thomson silver Tivo remotes on ebay for less than $10. They're OEM remotes that shipped with the series 1 UK SA Tivos but they work fine with any Tivo model except the Sonys.

I found many of the peanut remotes for sale on ebay for $12.00 (buy it now) with $8.60 shipping.

The fellow who sold me the TIVO box on ebay offered to pay 1/2 the cost due to his error on the remote.

I'd say that is a very fair deal. Remote on its' way.

Thanks for all who helped and provided me with the info.

Question: Mr Unnatural; you stated this remote will control my Hughes TIVO right out of the box. Are you saying I don't need to program it?

I ask, because all the info I have found details how to program the remote to the TV or Audio, etc., but no info was found on how to program the remote to a specific TIVO box.

Could you confirm it will be able to control my Hughes TIVO box without any programming on my part? Thanks.

The only reason it won't control your tivo is if your tivo is set to alternate remote address other then zero, and the remote is too. But to one not matching the one the box is set to.

So after you put in the batteries in, do the following on the remote:

1. press and hold TIVO & PAUSE, until the light remains on
2. press zero
