I've had my S3 up and running since January 07 with hardly any issues. as of three days ago i'm getting freezing, stuttering, and re-boots. i'm hoping it's a cable card issue (even though i've had the same cards since january).

anyone in Howard County Maryland experieneced any issues lately?

or ami screwed having to pay the $50 "out of labor" fee and shipping to TiVo to fix the problem?

and help , or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. i have a comcast tech coming to replace the cable cards on Sunday. hopefully that does the trick

Could this be a hard drive issue? You may want to do a search on Spin Rite and decide if this may help. I have not run it on a tivo drive yet, so I am not speaking from experience. Just an idea that may help you out.

I would guesstimate that a large portion of these types of issues are with the internal hard drive. Not guaranteed of course, but a good chance.

The hard drive is by far the component most likely to fail, in any computing system. Luckily it is also one of the easier pieces to replace. Depending upon your comfort level, it may be worthwhile to backup and replace that Tivo drive.

well as of a few hours ago i replaced the WD drive in the TiVo with a Seagate ST3500641AS and i'm no longer having any problems.

Sure the drives a bit noisier then the WD, but I now have an issue free Series 3 with 70 hours of HD recording space!

:) thank god it wasn't something more severe then a HDD problem.
