Phone connection is shot...

i can't connect via phone line and I still have 3.1. I would like to upgrade the software. Is there any way to do this like via a flash drive. Basically any way to do it without opening the box?

sorry you have to open the box, it does not mater all warranty’s have expired. You need to go to www.DVRupgrade.com and order the Instantcake cd for your machine.
Then install it with the aid of your PC. The current version is 6.2a which is prefered by some people. Good Luck, sorry your modem is shot.

If you have a computer running Windows (XP, WIN 2000, or even Vista) with an internet connection nearby you can set up PPP over serial and make the call over the internet. That is what I do.

It may take a while to get the upgrade even this way. The new software "may" be residing on your drive just waiting for activation or it may need to download and that takes longer.

There is no need to open the box for this.
