I am looking to by a series 1 tivo (b/c I already have a tivo with subscription and want one for a second room, for which I will not need another subscription - i.e., I want it only to pause, rewind, manually record tv).
I have seen both phillips series 1 devices and sony dvr-2000 devices out there for sale. Can anyone comment if one is better than the other for any reason or let me know if there is anything I should be particularly looking for/wary of?
They are identical at the hardware and software level. The only major operative difference is that Sonys use a different remote, and some sonys were released after the sub policy changed, requiring them to be subbed.
