Just curious what everyone is thinking regarding paying for Peacock streaming service?

I have an offer on one of my credit cards that I haven't yet taken advantage of because of course it still results in me paying something for Peacock and thus far I just haven't hit anything that leaves me thinking I absolutely must have Peacock.

With so many streaming services, and so little time (generally) for TV viewing, I don't know that I can really justify another payment. I would probably be better off paying for Hallmark given how much my wife watches same, but with my luck, no sooner do I pass on the paid subscription will something be coming that I will definitely want to see.

I don’t think so unless there’s something specific for you there like Office reruns or WWE. Previously, I was paying $9.99 for the WWE network, but now everything that was available there is on Peacock so if I pay the $9.99 for the commercial free version, I’ll be still getting more than I was before.

Edit: I do watch Amber Ruffin every week, but I never had the paid version until WWE switched over.

It's mostly meh, but all it takes is one show or set of movies to make it worth it to you. For example, I was for some reason in the mood to watch John Wick the other day, and that's the one service that has it. And there is of course an endless catalog of NBC shows that you may be interested in re-watching, or missed the first time. But I don't see a large number of compelling first run exclusives, certainly not enough to get me to subscribe for them alone.

We have the tier that comes with our X1 service and I tried to watch a show once. There are sooo many commercials, I think they were 30 seconds each but the breaks were a lot more, that I stopped and never went back.

I don’t see the above. I generally get 2.5 minutes of ads per half-hour show, which is not terrible. Occasionally, I even luck into a show with a 60-second ad up front and that’s it.

There's currently a deal to get Peacock for 4 months for $9.99.
Get 4 months of Peacock Premium streaming for just $10

Combine it with your credit card and it's $1.25 a month. This is the Premium plan with ads.

I plan on getting it next weekend before my AMEX deal expires. I previously had the Android 3 month free trial. It does appear the deal is available to me even though I'm a previous subscriber.

Good luck!

I only use it for Premier League soccer games but may keep it after the season ends to see if I find anything else to watch. It is a bit clunky to navigate but for my use it is tolerable. "Live" games are like the pre-Tivo days -- no pausing or skipping back and replays are not available until 30 to 60 minutes after the game ends.

I got it for free last year when I signed up for internet only service at the cottage, it's programming was "meh" at best, I get more from every other service and even the NBC app.
However we also had the flex box to use for it, and that was horrible, and the peacock app/interface was one of the worst I've ever used, although at the moment Paramount+ may be worse because of the lack of a "my stuff" list.

Would I pay for Peacock? not a chance.

Since it is the version with ads I will pass. I watch Paramount+, HBO Max and Disney+ most of the time so I don't have the time to watch Peacock.

It could have changed since I first tried it, but it was enough of a turn off that I never tried it again. And I couldn't skip or ffwd through them. I can skip on the normal onDemand.

I honestly don't see how anyone below a certain pay grade can afford to have all these streaming networks (and having them all rivals sat/cable in costs). At this point, even if there's something compelling on one of these networks, I'll pass if I have to pay to watch. People are paying to specifically watch rerun TV series? Those are the types of shows I watch in passing while surfing or before bed. But I wouldn't go out of my way to pay to watch Friends, or The Office, or any other series. I used to buy DVDs of these series and I realized, I haven't really watched them. I've started a few rewatches, and usually never get more than a few episodes in. But I guess there's a market for them. I mean if you're going to watch The Office reruns on Peacock with commercials, why not just record them, and save them on your DVR? (And yeah, I get that people who have cut the cord from linear TV, don't have that option).

Start with free to see if there’s anything you like (they ‘lock’ many programs after a few, or less episodes). I found little there for me.
If you have AMEX see if you got the promo for $4.99 for 3 month)

I don’t think they host the ads as pihole blocks them. I only signed up as I got the AMEX 3 mo offer. I don’t find much there for me that I don’t already get with cable. Only original I’ve watched so far is A.P Bio.
