Mediacom in Columbus, GA just switched from Motorola HD cable boxes to Pace TDC 779X HD cable boxes. I have series 2 Tivo connected and all is well except the Tivo cannot change the channel on the Pace box using the IR blaster. I have been through every code on the advanced setup for channel changing without success. The cable box does not have a serial port but does have a IR in 3.5 mm connection. Connecting the IR out from Tivo to IR in on the Pace box will not work I am told through other posts and may damage the IR out on the Tivo. Any help would be appreciated.

I am having the same issue as you, and my Pace cable box is also model TDC779x. With the IR blasters positioned correctly and using a variety of codes (including 0018 A,B, C), the channels still do not change.

I noticed there is an "IR RECEIVE" input on the back of the box (1/8 inch jack, I believe). Would I be able to just run a cable from the IR output on the Tivo to the IR RECEIVE inout on the cable box?

Otherwise, I am in the same boat. Tried all the codes, nothing gets the channels to move. Cable company is no help...

Cable RF into Pace Cable Box
Composite OUT of Cable Box to Tivo Humax DVR inputs
Component OUTof Tivo to TV Inputs
Also, HDMI OUT of Cable Box to HDMI IN on Samsung TV

Most of the info I can find on this cable box seems to originate from the UK.

Thanks for any advice!

The IR Receive connection is for the "Remote Eye" - used if you put the unit in a closet. It's a hookup for an external IR receiver and won't help you. Posting the question multiple times won't help either.

What did TiVo customer support say?

Tivo support referred back to the cable company and/or cable box company - no help there. Thanks for the input on the IR blaster. And I thought that posting my question with additional details would help anyone kind enough to respond. Thanks again.

Unless someone has had success with this box my only suggestion is to see if your cable operator offers a different box - one for which TiVo has IR codes.

I also now have the Pace TDC779x cable box, along with a new HD TV.

Found the answer on using the IR blasters with this box on slingcommunity.com. They say to specify a Motorola DCT6412. For Tivo, all I had to do was specify "Motorola" instead of "Pace", and IT WORKED PERFECTLY!

This also worked for me - selecting Motorola instead of Pace. I also noticed that there was a screen to change from serila to IR in the "Troubleshooting" menu, so I chaned that (to IR) re-ran Guided Setup, and now it seems to works fine. What long strange process...

John 777,

I hope you still look at this forum! I was you, but without your elegant solution. Just moved to the East Coast and got Mediacom and that same Pace TDC779x cable box that wasn't recognized by my series 2. I was about ready to give up on life when your post came across my IM. I changed the setup to "Motorola" and it worked like a charm! How did you ever think to do that! I called Mediacom trying to get the Pace box's IR codes under the Advanced Setup, and they were completely lost. Big surprise, I know.

My marriage was saved. Thank you, thank you!!!:):)
