Outage of Time Warner in Texas

SDV channels went out over the weekend for my OLED S3 in Dallas. Then on Tuesday all channels went out. The "analyst" on chat could only suggest a truck roll. Sigh. The appointment was for this morning.

Around midnight last night, everything started working again. This morning, I got a call from the tech asking if I was still having problems. When I told him things were OK, he said that there was a state wide outage last week affecting TiVos and it took them a few days to "rebuild" it.

So, my question is obvious. Did anyone else in Dallas or Texas experience similar problems over the last week or so? Or am I getting a story?

You should look at the DSLReports website under the TWC DFW thread. Usually if there is some outage people start posting there within minutes and usually someone has information about what is going on. I know TWC has been moving SDV channels around a lot the past couple of weeks as well as adding a few more HD channels too, so there have been a few outages starting at around 2AM in the morning for a couple of hours. Also this last Monday 1/30 there was an outage about 6PM for about 30 minutes that was city wide.
Our neighborhood had a complete outage of all TWC cable services a couple of weeks ago. That was a Tuesday morning and was fixed within a couple of hours. I have not noticed any problems with SDV channels lately.

I am not too far north of Dallas.

i had many channels across all tiers go out over about a 3-6 hour period either wed or thu night. the local support# was giving error/fast busy and if you selected chat there were hundreds of people queued up. taken all-in-all, i'd say it was a very major outage. also, there is that solar plasma spur/spike affecting satellite comms.

Here in Austin I had no trouble over the weekend, but starting sometime yesterday my signal strength went to pot across every channel I tried. Did the tech support dance last night when I realized it and am waiting until Sunday afternoon for a truck roll

A statewide outage affecting TiVos, and only TiVos, specifically, and not just an outage?

Sounds fishy to me.

it would be good news to know that we have enough tivo users here to crash their call center and increase the support chat wait queue to 232.

sadly, i doubt it. the symptoms indicated one or multiple satellite outages and there is always that plasma storm for a convenient scapegoat.

Sounded fishy to me as well. That's why I asked. But to be fair, neither he nor I said it affected only TiVos. -- Doug

But if you quoted him accurately, he didn't say a statewide outage that affected everything using cable cards, he said TiVos. Aren't there things other than TiVos that use cable cards?
