ota signal decreased even more after last upgrade?

I use OTA have both premier and S3. I noticed that signal dropped even more since last upgrade? This is not weather related, clear and sunny here.. When I went on vacation and came back I started to watch a show on one box where it was tivo'd and went downstairs and ff to same place on the show (had season pass, so didn't need to transfer it) the show on premier was unwatchable. Called Tivo, they said it had to be cable problem, advised them that since S3 was upstairs pass 2 splitters this shouldn’t be issue but they insisted it must be faulty cables…So I did a test with both premier and s3 where put next to each other and moved antenna connection from one box to other and the signal showed about 40 to 50% decrease when plugged into premier (made certain both boxes were on same channel 4 testing)... before i went on vacation i could watch the channels with minor pixalation, now it is drastic...

BTW Before this upgrade had issues with remote, and box stating it wasn’t connected internet (router was up and networking screen showed connected, ip on premier box pinged and access on all other computers was fine but couldn't get netflix etc) and weird issues with cc.. Getting tired of fixing one to break another.. Do u think i just have a defective box or what?

Hi,
Update: talked 2 Tivo and replacement unit is being sent. They advised that the signal loss shouldn't be more than 20% difference between two boxes and agreed 2 send new box.
Just be aware that the "signal strength" is not a standard indicator. The premiere and S3 will definitely show a different % as they use a different tuner that seems to display the quality differently. What really matters is if you are getting a lot of SNR Uncorrected errors. This would indicate an issue with your signal.
I have many different Series 3 and Series 2 TiVos with converter boxes and it seems that there is not rhythm or reason with the signals coming and going on the boxes. Sometimes it is great and other time terrible and all the channels seem to have troubles on occasion. I can only think that the transmitters are messed up as I have nothing between me and the antennas on a nearby mountain. I think the American public really got ripped off with this change over to digital.
The foilage or lack of foilage can also make a big difference in reception. I know it always has in my area with all channels coming in great with full foilage, and after Novemeber when the foilage is gone, I have major issues with a couple of stations.

Fortunately OTA is only a backup for me now. Since two of our local station went back to VHF they went from the highest signal strength stations to the lowest for me.

I understand this and all the above were off, snr uncorrected on s3 was 0 while premier was in 100k mark with same cable connection when tested. they stated 20% on signal was common drop between 2 boxes, but mine was 40%+ with massive uncorrected using same [email protected] location 2 account for all variances..

,

again, since testing was done with two boxes premier and s3, using same cable, located in same location in home just switching the rg 6u between boxes and signal strength, snr, and uncorrected errors on premier were all below par yet more than acceptable on S3 they decided it was a tuner issue...

Sorry to hear that, I however have had the exact opposite experience. When I moved to this home in 1999 I could only get 8 channels and had to move the antenna to get them so I went to directv, now I get up to 60 and don't have to move my antenna at all, even in the worst weather I didn't have much issues with my S3, my problems only started on the premier after the last upgrade.. granted I don't get the "premium" ones, but i rarely watched them anyway, now I save big $ by not paying to watch what I get for free anyway...the rest I use netflix, hulu etc.
I have been in the same location for 20+ years and have had the same antenna and cabling since 2006. I had problems with analog and have had problems with digital. However for the last 6+ months problems have seemed to drop off rarely do I loose a station or have unacceptable amounts of pixellation. I don't know what has changed but I like it!

Glad 2 hear that. As for why better now, they probably made adjustments @ tower, I know that happened with several out here after the transition completed.
got my new box and signal, snr, and 0 rs uncorrected... now try to figure out why it won't let me transfer shows back??? it says there aren't any recordings on s3?
