I am currently setup for cable with a Roamio Pro in the family room, a new Mini Lux in the Master Bedroom, an old 4 tuner Premiere in the media room. I also have a retired original mini sitting in a box.

I am trying to decide how to best migrate to OTA. The OTA Edge and OTA Roamio are both 2 tuner devices and I do not believe they can drive a mini? I am not sure what happened to the 4 Tuner OTA Edge - seems like it was discontinued?

Mini lux is new so I would like to keep that - everything else is lifetime so I would happily sell and reinvest. But just not sure TiVo really supports distributed OTA like that...

So what’s the recommendation?

Roamio OTA and Bolt OTA models have four tuners and can support Minis as a host.

Correct, the four tuner Edge has been discontinued.

FWIW, I have no experience with Edge, but I ran 4-tuner Roamio OTA systems in two households with several Minis for a few years. Works no differently that cable did except for the channel lineup. Watch recorded or live TV (up to your tuner limit) in any room.

Yeah - I just do not want the 2 tuner OTA... I found a 4 tuner Edge on Amazon that I may pull the trigger on.

I only have two TVs. I also have to use TE4 on my Lifetime/All-In 4-tuner Roamio because the second TV uses a TiVo Mini Vox with WiFi 5 USB adapter.

Anyway, one option that I had considered was to use Roamio as a Recast type device (i.e, not connected to a TV) and buy a second Mini Vox/Lux that works well with TE4. I figured if the Roamio were only used as a recording server, the potential for sluggishness with TE4 wouldn’t matter much.

Instead, since I had to use TE4 anyway (for the WiFi 5 adapter), I ended up purchasing a 4-tuner Edge with All-In/Lifetime to use with my current Mini Vox.

Needless to say, I have an original 4-tuner Roamio (OTA or Cable) with Lifetime/All-In that will soon be up for sale if anyone wants to make a preemptive offer.

With lifetime 4 tuner Roamios ruining around $200, why would anybody ever consider an Edge?
The Roamio OTA doesn't support MOCA so you would need an additional moca adapter if you went that route with a mini, but would still be significantly cheaper than the Edge.

The mini lux would have been significantly cheaper than the Edge and might be compatible with ATSC 3.0 Tivos when that becomes the standard. Do you notice much difference in the basic DVR responsiveness of the Edge over the roamio?
