*** Episodes 1-3 released Aug 31 2021 ***
Figured I'd start a thread for those interested. I like how it's starting.
It's not going for the big laughs which is what I expected. Though there were some very funny moments -- Oliver (Martin Short) compulsively taking dips and his producer friend signing to the son to hide the hummus; Charles (Steve Martin) meeting a young fan who knows him from watching an "old" (90s!) TV show with his dad; Melba's (Selena Gomez) deadpan reactions to Charles' attempts to be charming; Evelyn the cat getting more sympathy than the person murdered; the psychiatrist shilling for paid grief counseling.
But the show makes it clear it will be dark. Especially with the secrets and shame each one is currently hiding from the other. I'd like to know who Jane is -- sounds like Charles' estranged daughter? There's Oliver's money problems. And the biggie with Melba once being close friends with the murdered Tom Kono.
Looking forward to more episodes. Really hate that I'm on the ad-supported tier of Hulu though. The 90-second interruptions shouldn't be a lot but I'm so used to watching streaming shows commercial-free.
