*** Episodes 1-3 released Aug 31 2021 ***

Figured I'd start a thread for those interested. I like how it's starting.

It's not going for the big laughs which is what I expected. Though there were some very funny moments -- Oliver (Martin Short) compulsively taking dips and his producer friend signing to the son to hide the hummus; Charles (Steve Martin) meeting a young fan who knows him from watching an "old" (90s!) TV show with his dad; Melba's (Selena Gomez) deadpan reactions to Charles' attempts to be charming; Evelyn the cat getting more sympathy than the person murdered; the psychiatrist shilling for paid grief counseling.

But the show makes it clear it will be dark. Especially with the secrets and shame each one is currently hiding from the other. I'd like to know who Jane is -- sounds like Charles' estranged daughter? There's Oliver's money problems. And the biggie with Melba once being close friends with the murdered Tom Kono.

Looking forward to more episodes. Really hate that I'm on the ad-supported tier of Hulu though. The 90-second interruptions shouldn't be a lot but I'm so used to watching streaming shows commercial-free.

It's ironic how Mabel called out Charles for not being honest by telling scripted stories from his fictional series to describe his real life when she herself hasn't told anyone she knew the murdered guy.

I luxuriously just picked up the free ad-free month of Hulu for the imminent S3 premier of What We Do In The Shadows and they're trying to get me hooked on OMITB so I won't cancel.

This looks like something I would enjoy but I'm waiting for both a free month of Hulu and the return of "The Orville". And enough time to take advantage of both.

If you wait too long the free month offer might go away, unless you've never subscribed to Hulu before. For previous subscribers I've guessed they reevaluate the free month offer on a month to month basis and they can also make it a function of how long it's been since you subscribed.

I'm always being told I got a free month. I could get one right now but it's not that useful yet.

I forgot all about The Orville. Is that on Hulu? I haven't seen it since it was on FOX.

My other half & I binged the first three episodes today. This is great. Can't wait for tomorrow's episode.

I've known people like Bunny.

The bit with Evelyn in the freezer was hilarious.

This is the first time I've seen Martin Short actually act without being 100% schtick and was surprised he actually could.

Is it some kind of commentary on the segment of the world the characters live in that they are trying to monetize their hobby?

Does Gordon Sumner still go by his stage name in day-to-day life?

Really enjoying the show and characters. The amateur detectives do remind me of Manhattan Murder Mystery, but in a good way. I am glad to hear it is doing well and got renewed.

We loved this week's episode. It really moved the story along nicely and it was good to see characters really communicate and avoid the trope of relying on things unsaid to advance the story.

I pegged Tie-Dye guy as Oscar at the beginning of the episode nice to see I called it.
