I noticed in the Online Scheduling FAQ that for Dialup Tivos you should schedule more than 36hours in advance, but for Networked Tivos you need only do it an hour in advance. This implies that Networked Tivos are "calling-in" to the Tivo server much more often than once a day.

Can someone please confirm how this works? Is there a setting somewhere (that is accessible to me) that lets me adjust how many times my networked S3 checks the Tivo server?

Yes that is how it works. There is no setting that I know of that you can use.

Once a day (approximately) broadband connected Tivos connect and download guide data. Every 15 minutes or so, a broadband connected Tivo connects to check for anything scheduled online.

Thanks mick66--I assumed that there was something added for post-S1 Tivos (i.e. broadband/network-connected) that was different from "the daily call" but couldn't find anything about it. Still haven't seen anything stating "every 15 minutes" other than your post, but I will accept it as correct.

I tried Online Scheduling for the first time this morning, then developed my question and opened the thread. Since then I got confirmation emails both about my initial OS request and then another stating that my Tivo had checked-in and accepted my request, so it's all good.

Would prefer tivoweb-type functionality (direct access to the Tivo) but for now OS can be pretty handy.
