I cannot remember the last time I had ANY recording that the auto-skip actually worked until last night. I was watching Deadliest Catch and was prompted to press "D" to skip the commercials.

Wonder if I should call TiVo and complain.....

Nit, but if you have to press D that’s manual skip. I watched AGT this week with full auto-skip.

That's just plain-jane SkipMode.

For Auto-Skip:

• TE4: Turn it on and let it rip.
• TE3: Set it up and then enable it in kmttg - Thanks @moyekj !
  BTW: Be sure to turn it OFF between viewing sessions as it creates a lot of network traffic.

Honestly though, '30-second Advance' (the one where you see what's being skipped - not sure of the 'official' name) often shows me 'interesting' tidbits, either new shows I might want to watch or products I didn't know even existed.

You need to wait longer. All four new shows had SM, but some took 18 hours. The Tonight Show also had SM all week. Last night was a special.
