Odyssey 5 starting next week on SciFi (U.S.)...how did it end?

Seems next Friday ODYSSEY 5 will start running on the U.S. SciFiChannel.

I understand that SHOWTIME canned the show well before it was intended to end...did they have time to do any kind of series finale, or will new viewers be left hanging if we watch the SciFiChannel run?

Wonder if they will show it in HD, it was on HDNET a while back and I didn't finish it.

And to answer your question, it diden't really end, it had a cliffhanger at the end of the season.
Thanks for the info.

Not likely I'll be investing time in it if it just leaves you hanging.

I hate that, and SlyLie Channel has done that enough, both with shows they've been airing firstrun, and with older shows they adopted and ran unaired episodes of.

As for running the show in HD, I don't think SlyLie HAS an HD version of itself.
SciFi just went HD this week on DirecTV MPEG4.

SG 1 Atlantis looked great.
I thought the show was worth watching even without a proper resolution. But then, I've never understood those people who save up a few episodes of a new show, waiting to see if it will be cancelled before they'll start watching it.
Yeah but - wasn't there a few UN-aired episodes before Showtime pulled the axe?

Knowing this fact makes it easier to watch actually, at least easier than if it was in its normal run and suddenly it was gone.

Yes, there are threads left hanging, but at the same time there are some killer stories. It's such a great show.

Not to mention the sequence that sets up the show is one of my favorite sequences of any sci-fi show. Evar. :)

They were released on DVD, and HDNET recently played them all through too.
For reasons I still don't understand, Showtime aired about two thirds of the episodes and then just stopped. Other places, UK, and Canada for example, got to see them all, but not the US--not for years! Then, suddenly, Showtime showed them all on one of its other stations, Showtime Extreme, or something. After that, it appeared on HDNET and looked very good.

I agree, the opening sequences in the pilot were some of the best in any Sci-Fi show ever, and the "hook" was as good as it gets.

The way it eventually ended was:
the group of astronauts that made up the Odyssey 5 thought a group of ill tempered people calling themselves the Cabal (or something) were bad guys. One of them was Angela's Senator father. Well, in the end, we discovered that the Cabal were NOT bad guys, but were on the same side as the Odyssey 5.
There were a LOT of really great episodes getting to this place though. They were very much worth watching.

Is it still channel 244 or is Sci-Fi HD a new channel altogether???
The last two episodes (which were unaired in the US during their original run) did answer a lot of questions, and tied several things up. But it also tossed in a few new unanswered questions - and ended on a cliffhanger - never to be resolved.

I hate that.
Another extremely memorable sequence is (and I can say this without really spoiling a thing) in an episode about a hitchhiker... that one had some amazing writing.

Too bad Manny Coto hasn't put that kind of writing into 24. :)

Greg
The episode just before the episode about the hitchhiker had my wife in tears. This is extremely unusual for her, so the writing has to be top notch to evoke that level of emotional involvement. Odyssey 5 might very well be one of the best shows ever. Even with the unresolved cliffhanger ending, it is worth watching, and savoring, every episode.

And oh, by the way,
I think the group called themselves the cadre, not the cabal. It has been a few years.

It's channel 244, but from a different satellite. You need a different receiver/dish to get it.

The guide lists channel 244 twice, but one says SCIFI and one says SCIFIHD.
