I looked but I couldn't find anything like this. I have a Roamio Plus which was purchased in January 2015. It has been a great machine which sees daily use. Lately when I start to watch a show the pre-roll ad plays (or I push through it) then the show plays for about one minute. It then pauses and the screen goes back to the home screen. I say pause because the pause symbol is showing on the preview screen with the program paused. I can go back in and play the show and it picks up where it left off. At this point it is just annoying but is this a sign of a bigger problem? Thanks in advance for any advance for any advice. I don't post much but have enjoyed this forum for years.

Its a part of Hydra, pre-roll ads that is the issue itself.

It is not the ads that are the problem. The problem is that after the ads the program pauses and then goes back to the TiVo home screen. I then have to restart the program (no ad with the restart). This just started happening in the last couple weeks and only on the Roamio. I thought maybe it might be a sign of failing hard drive, etc. As long as it isn’t a sign that the Roamio is failing this is just an annoyance. I can switch locations with one of the Bolt’s.

Might need a Tivo service connection.

As far as I know I have not had a problem with service connections. There was one this morning and I just watched a program with no problem. Maybe that was what it needed but the problem didn't happen every time so time will tell.

Thank you. I thought the problem was gone but it happened again today. I filed an online request to disable pre-roll ads and explained the issue. It is really more of an annoyance than anything else as long as it doesn't mean my Roamio is dying.

I am seeing the exact same thing happening on both my Roamio and minis. It started around Thursday. I tried fast forwarding a recording to the end by holding down the forward key and then going back to the beginning and the recording played.

I had it happen again today and I restarted my Roamio. Have not experienced that problem. I have noticed that some of the functions (like deleted a watched recording) have become very slow. Also the forward key takes longer to respond.

My guess is that there was a software update that was not so great.

I had pre rolls removed from my Roamio Plus as they were causing restarts. Since then (2 months) I have had updates, service connections and restarts and still no pre rolls. I think they figured out the Roamio cant handle the PLAY>TIVO SERVER>AD>BACK TO UNIT>PLAY VIDEO.without having a stroke. Good. One call and pre rolls were gone forever. My Bolt has them but handles them well.

What IP address or URL did you block?

In addition, today I asked support to disable the pre-roll ads. Sounds like they are having trouble doing that too. Here is an excerpt from the chat session.
I'm sorry to hear that the Pre-roll Ads are giving you problems on your box. Actually I can request an update so your TiVo device no longer shows an advertisement before your recording begins however we have a Known Issue now wherein even if we remove the Ads, it will still show on the box. I apologize for the inconvenience this caused you. Our Specialists are currently investigating the issue to get this resolved as quickly as possible. I already included your case on the list. As soon as the Known Issue will be resolved, the Pre-roll Ads were be removed permanently on your box.
