because the certificate it came with was good for a limited amount of time, that time came and we could not longer do what we sued to be able to do.
with the new cert it works again.
it is possible to make a certificate that NEVER expires, i do not have the expertise to do this but if some kind user did this for us and shared it with the community they would be loved by all.
I found this thread that helps folks create their own certifications under Windows 10. It's post #75 on page 4 of the thread. I'll have to give it a try.

That was very nice. I wish there was a way to upload those 1k files.
I've attached the two certificates. Extract them into the TiVo Desktop directory overwriting the existing certificates. Restart TiVo Desktop.
It's that time again. Apparently the certificate files posted a year ago have expired again. Does anyone have certificate files that will allow TiVo Desktop to continue working?

...so you folks are the greatest help ever. When I can no longer transfer files acquired on my PC from a source of my choosing, my life will be changed from that point onward. What if I have to hook up a DVD player, holy cow heck no ! I don't know who you are, but you have continued to keep my TiVo functioning in a way that is essential to my life style. I haven’t updated the certificates yet, but just curious do they affect how you view a remote tivo? When I went to watch a show on my bedroom set from the living room, the listing looked different. I had to change settings like turning groups on which I never had to do before. Looked like the Now Playing on a Pc listing. I didn’t think tivo desktop software had anything to do with remote tivo access.
Want to add my thanks too for the new certificates.
In the other thing I mentioned, I have 2 roamios and a premiere. In the living room roamio, if I remotely accessed the premiere, I got the usual My Shows listing, if I access the other roamio,it looks like the Now Playing layout. It doesn't say My a Shows, or show %disc used. It also was slow, got the spinning circle of dots. When I started playing a show and then stopped and went back it then said My Shows but I can't reproduce that all the time.
Duh, the power light on the bedroom roamio was off. The fan was noisy the other day so I sprayed some compressed air in it, must have turned it off by mistake. So it was in standby... The files are still accessible but different interface.
