I just ordered a Series 2 model 240, 140 hour From Tivo. It had an encoding problem and stuttered they day i got it, so I contacted Tivo and they sent me a replacement which came today. The replacement is a 540 which really ticked me off because I specifically asked the guy if the replacement would be the same model and he said yea it would be the same. If you guys could answer a few questions it would help me allot.

1) I do plan to upgrade this Tivo eventually and hear the 240s are better for this. ( the main reason I bought the 240 ) is this true?

2) I heard the 240s have better visual quality then the 540 and the USB speed is faster again true or not?

3) Should I contact Tivo again and get them to send me a 240? ( I have had Tivo scince 1999 and this week was the first time I had to call Support , it was a two and a half hour call and I'm not looking forward to that again. )

Thanks

If you want to hack it, beyond drive expansion, you should get a 240.
