Also, I have no idea why it initially rebooted - I thought it was one of those "Rule 834" ones, but there is no sign of ANY reboot reason in the kernel log

No - we dealt with that a long time agoHave you got auto standby turned on in your Sky box? That would cause a reboot for the reasons Automan gave.
