Turned on the TV and the Premiere (w/CableCard) was having "problem tuning this channel" on every channel.

I pulled the power cord and put it back in.
"Welcome! Starting up...."
Then "Just a few minutes more...."
Then back to "Welcome! Starting up..."

Cycle repeated three more times before booting up normally and all channels were operating fine again.

Might this just be a fluke, or do I need to prepare for a future repair job?

Thanks!

Same problem started for me a few months ago. I only power it on weekends, but as long as it finally connects, it can repeat a dozen times.

I place it in Standby before removing power. When I apply power I wait until the green LED goes out before even seeing if it finished booting. The flashing yellow LED means it's trying again.

Question: the failing box is a 746500. I have a 746320 I haven't used in years. Can I swap drives?

Okay, next question. Since the hard drive is apparently dying (might not be tomorrow or even next month but seems closer to its end than its beginning), which would be easier? Premiere is currently set up with a cable card but with the USB tuning adapter disconnected. Cheapest package with locals and shopping channels which apparently doesn't use the tuning adapter in the first place.

1. Replacing the hard drive and copying over as many shows as I can from my Roamio (will this cause any issues with the cable card)? or...

2. Replacing the entire Premiere with a Bolt that I'm currently not using (will THIS cause any issues with the cable card)?

If the Premiere were set up on antenna, I'd just swap in the Bolt right now, copy over all shows, and go on my merry way. I just have ZERO experience with any of this stuff on CableCard and heard lots of horror stories.

Thoughts? Thanks!

No, shows are not connected to the cablecard, its only used to access and decrypt the cable signals to be able to view/record it.

(while the drive is still working in the Premiere) You can use KMTTG and copy shows, passes, etc. to your computer, provided that your computer's hard drive has lots of space for the shows. Passes will be a small file.

To replace the drive, you would need to use DVRBars to backup and restore to a new drive of equal or bigger size, MFSTools 3.x would be used to expand the larger space to fully use them.

Same/similar problem again last night. No signal, this time with orange/yellow LED on in front. Reboot fixed the problem again, this time took only one reboot, not three like last time.

I've seen comments that could be power supply in addition to comments on this thread that it's likely a failing hard drive. Which do y'all think my issue is? Thanks!
