When you said you "reset" the TiVo, exactly what did you do?
Was it a reboot or restart?
What does the system information screen indicate?

You are mistaken. Whatever model TiVo you have, you need to put that model's image on the drive. You cannot put a Phillips image on a Sony or vice-versa.ciper said:If you install the phillips image on a sony and then use a regular peanut remote it should work. Can't say anything about the guide data
You technically can, if it is the same architecture/board. It is just not a good idea WRT to guide data and that, as the OP found out.murgatroyd said:You are mistaken. Perhaps now that there are no S1 software upgrades, you can, but back in the old days, it was a big no-no.classicsat said:You technically can, if it is the same architecture/board. It is just not a good idea WRT to guide data and that, as the OP found out.
There is no reason not to. It is just, in the OPs case, they got sent a drive set up for a Philips TiVo, rather than the Sony they were supposed to.murgatroyd said:Perhaps now that there are no S1 software upgrades, you can, but back in the old days, it was a big no-no.
Besides, I don't see the point -- why not just use a Sony image?
