Greetings. Thank you for the use of this forum.
I have been using an OTA for over 4 years now and employed the use of one of those (Junk)shaped like a little airplane that uses an amplifier & promises 150 mi. range. I didn't buy that claim but tried it and it worked fine. Got 32-34 channels including, CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC. It was mounted on a 20' off the ground mast. It started shedding some parts, so I took it down and put a new one up. I took the old one and mounted it on a wooden dowel and attached it to a wooden post on my fence which is about 6' off the ground. It is connected to a flat screen unit with an amplifier that is mounted near my desk and I get 28 channels, with ABC not included, which is OK. I could longer get the 32-34 channels that I got before with the new unit on the 20' mast, including CBS, which is normally a given in this area. I have consulted most of the websites that help in determining the correct pointing of the unit & they all point me in the same direction with the same results. I have tried everything even dropping the unit 5' basing that on the fact that I am getting CBS, included in 28 channels on a unit that is 6 feet off the ground. Too, all of the websites that I went on to determine the right direction say even 10' off the ground should get me 32-34 channels.
I even went out and bought a 120 unit from a well know antenna maker and mounted that on the 20' mast and the reception was even worst, best I could do was 21 channels. So, I sent that back and got a refund. Any input will be greatly appreciated.
