Hi all - just picked up my first Tivo (the HD) after years of satellite and cable DVR usage. The software interface really is VERY well done - light years ahead of the Scientific Atlanta 8300 I'm replacing with it.

I have one "usage question" I've got that is leaving me a bit baffled. When I'm watching a recorded program from my list, I find that if I hit guide it stops the program I'm watching and switches to live TV - very jarring. Any idea why it is doing this (by design?). I'm trying to set up lots and lots of Season Passes and it seems that it's not possible to do this while watching a recorded program - just live TV.

Any thoughts? Am I missing something, or is the TiVo just being smarter than I am and telling me that I'm doing it wrong?

No, you aren't missing anything. This is probably the single biggest part of the Tivo User Interface I don't like.

Guide always dumps you to Live TV.

I did this yesterday -- with a laptop and online scheduling.

Personally I setup my SPs an Wish Lists under 'Find Programs' on the TiVo Central menu. I find searching by title is MUCH faster than using the guide.

I pretty much never use the guide.
