I have the series 5 Roamia (sp?). My dog did damage to the original remove. Got a replacement from Amazon that says it's compwtable with series 5.
In order to do a setup, I'm supposed to go to the TIVO home screen then Settings. But I can't GET to that screen with the broken remote and the new remote isn't programmed. HELP.

Hold down the TiVo button the press the "C" button. That puts the remote into IR mode. Then follow these instructions:

What's the model number of the new remote?

Sounds like the reverse of my problem: Mini VOX, TE3, and RF Remote fails
These remote issues are strange. I have a new mini Vox in a bedroom and just realized it has been in IR mode since I set up and was unable to pair that in RF mode either last night. One last attempt before contacting TiVo support will be to shut down all TiVo devices (Roamio, Mini Vox, and Mini) and then bring only the Roamio online and try the RF pairing with that. Then turn it off and boot the mini Vox and try to RF pair that one.

Was able to get my Vox remote to pair with the mini Vox in RF mode after unplugging all TiVo boxes and pulling the batteries out of all TiVo remotes. Tried the same thing with the Roamio Plus and Vox remore and no joy. Did multiple global resets of the remote and then tried pairing and it just kept blinking yellow indefinitely.

Follow these instructions. You want to start with the remote in IR mode and a remote code of "0" and take it from there.
