Two questions:
Just bought a "new" mini from Ebay. I went to register it and it had already been registered.. Well of course... It's from Ebay.
Do i need to do anything to get it to work or should it just fire up?

Next question:
When I did hook it up it started going through the start up procedure but got stuck when trying to connect via my new (and maybe not functional) MoCA network.

My Tivo DVR sees the MoCA network and seems to work OK and my network itself is functioning with the MoCA attached to the Router and Cable Modem.

I'm kind stuck because he Mini won't go through it's startup being stuck on the MoCA issue.

MoCA is pretty robust.

If you've just got the the 2 or 3 devices, find the other end of the Coax Cables. Usually in the attic or the outside of the house where the cable comes in or in a Structured Panel somewhere inside the house.

Reduce the number of 'splits' to just the needed cables.

Try the MoCA again.

What is "too much" information? Is buying used ones frowned upon?
The seller is the person who is supposed to have called Tivo and let them know they were selling the unit to someone new and provide your name and then given you a reference number to use with Tivo when you call to activate the unit on your account. Apparently none of that was done.
Tivos willingness to activate such units has varied over time, from total refusal to delaying the activation for the new owner for a week or ten days. I have no idea what Tivo is doing now. I would call Tivo and see what they say, but you may need to contact the seller and get them to go through Tivo, and hopefully it is not an ISP owned unit or one that is blacklisted because of prior fraud.

You have 2 issues, getting the Mini onto your TiVo account (the same account in which the BOLT is registered), and getting the Mini networked.

@fcfc2's response covers the account side, but as for the network side, I'd suggest a couple troubleshooting steps, per the original "MoCA" thread ...
1) Not worrying about the TV signal, temporarily move the BOLT to the Mini location and see if the BOLT is able to make a MoCA connection. And do the same with the Mini, trying it at the BOLT location. Does the problem stick w/ the location or travel with the Mini?

2) Move the Mini to where it can be connected via Ethernet to the router, and see how far it gets. (It's possible that the Mini MoCA connection issue may be due to out-of-date software. Fingers crossed that the Mini doesn't auto-update to TE4, as some "new" Mini's tend to do.)

It won't connect to your TiVo until it's on the same account.
A basic network connection is a different issue from a Mini not being able to "see" or "connect" to its intended host DVR due to an account issue. The C33 issue noted above is a network connection issue.

Call TiVo and let them know you've bought it used and please transfer it to your account. I recommend you don't provide too much information. Just enough to complete the task.
Though @fcfc2 details the published process, as @kpeters59 notes, you may be able to get the box transferred without the original owner properly completing their side of the process ... though some have found that having the box networked and making TiVo service connections for a few days has proved helpful in the process. (i.e. Getting the Mini networked may be a prerequisite to getting the Mini switched to your account.)
