I have an old SSD and was going to see if it would work in an old Series 3 HD as I want to eliminate the HDD noise as it is in my bedroom. I do not record much so think 128 GB would be enough storage space. However when I tried to run WinMfs it said that my drive did not have sufficient space. Is there any way to get the image onto this smaller drive?

No, Tivo images occupy the entire drive and there is no way to shrink it from the OEM size. Example, the TCD652160 has OEM size of 160GB.
