My HDVR2 is two or three years old and just crashed a disk for the second time. Last Tuesday I received a new hard drive with an image already installed. After operating normally for two days it crashed... can't get past the Welcome.. Powering Up screen. I am thinking of just buying new equipment but am limited in what I want to spend.

Now that there are no more new DirecTVios hould I just buy a DirecTV receiver and Series 2 Tivo stand-alone? Is that my only choice other than trying another hard drive? Is there a better place to buy than BestBuy?

Well if you have already changed the hdd, I would try getting a new power supply. Otherwise pick up a used series 2 Directv unit off of ebay, they are all over and typically very cheap. Just be sure to get the Reciever Id # and call D TV to make sure it can be acticated to your acct.
