I just hooked up a new series 2 DT tivo for my dad. I have old 40 hour one. His has a new guide I really like that has channels down the left and times for the next 4 hours down the right. Can I get this on my old 40 hour? Is it a software update? I have version 8.3-01-2-540

Sounds like the difference between the "TiVo" guide, and the "Grid" guide.
Yes, you can switch between them.
Just hit "enter" when in the guide, and change the style.
