Is it just that my menu is coming across in 480p?

the picture is pretty darn good on the Sony A9G....

Truth be told I am so tired of hdmi handshake issues with Tivo.... I know that’s the case because if I reboot the TiVo I have to unplug and plug in the tv to get rid of the HD protection issue.... on a brand new TV.

I am also having issues with a lifetime mini which suddenly refuses MOCA connection , I’ve done everything including service call for 45 mins with no success... it just suddenly stopped.

I may buy an EDGE wondering if my picture would get that much better, and if it would possibly fix the mini issue.... not fond of the xfinity box. I have 2 other minis working perfectly fine on Ethernet now after the MOCA failure , just don’t have access for the last remaining.

are folks springing for All in again? With changing tech wondering if I do go edge just do yearly.

thanks!

Check to make sure you have a good quality hdmi cable. I was having picture loss problems and my ARC channel was intermittent at best.

Replaced the Amazon Basic hdmi cable with a high quality hdmi cable and all has been working correctly ever since...

I had MoCa go out on one of my Mini's with no available ethernet to plug it into as an alternate connection. I had an extra MoCa bridge on hand and used it to connect to the Mini's ethernet port. Been working great for 3 years...

Thanks for the feedback, hdmi has been an issue on 2 different branded hdmi cables ... maybe I will try for third not sure .

I will try the bridge advice for the other mini...

BTW... the bridge, just one on the mini end since the Roamio should be sending the signal on the other?
Tivo branded ?

MOCA was working throughout my house , only after some service work around here “upgrades” it all went away.

thanks for your response .

I can second on the hdmi cables. I have had issues with roku boxes not liking 15 feet runs with hdmi through the walls.

Monoprice now has 6ft 8k HDMI 2.1 cables. Granted they are not certified premium cables yet as those tests are not finalized. But they did fix my issues with the picky Roku Ultra box I have.

They have them in 1.5ft, 3ft, and 6ft so far. Roughly 10.60 each. 5 packs are a little cheaper per cable.
Monoprice DynamicView Ultra 8K High Speed HDMI Cable, 48Gbps, 8K, Dynamic HDR, eARC, 6ft Black - Monoprice.com

If you need longer that 6 ft then you will have to wait until they are released.
Just remember it isn't the just the brand of hdmi cable. It is also the standard they are built to.

4.95 and 10.2 Gbps are the lowest standard and might as well throw them away. Not much can run on them these days without issues.

18 Gbps should be for 4k. hdmi 2.0 standards

48 Gbps is the newest 8k hdmi 2.1 standard that is backwards compatible with 4k 2.0 and should give you the best chance of not having handshake issues. But is still fairly new and not many true testing cables exist out in the wild.

Alright first thing is I am gong to try and fix the MOCA situation.

I ordered the Motorola moca bridge, if I understand right I should be able to hook that up to the Modem, Router and TiVo Roamio behind my TV.

go into the TiVo settings and turn off the Moca bridge setting (turn off moca) and then proceed to see if the minis will work in the other rooms via coax jacks.

Hopefully this is a fix for that issue.
