Fitting a network card to my standard tivo, I downloaded the boot disk from tivo central but my pc won't boot to it .

I get an error. "only one processor found"

if I leave it for a few mins , it says hdc lost interrupt
hdc lost interrupt
hdc lost interrupt
hdc lost interrupt
hdc lost interrupt

When I try it in a different PC I get

unknown bus type 129

Is your computer very modern?

Have you got another one you can try?

Whoops, you already have :)

How about a complete altepg image disc just to see if that will boot?

Automan.
The first one I tried it in is 6-7 yrs old. The second one about 4.

I have a 10-11 yo one at an other location I could try tomorrow.

See the bit I tacked on...

See if the computers will boot from an altepg image disc?

Just to see if it a disc issue rather than your computers which seem old enough :)

Automan.
The "one processor found" doesn't stop anything happening (always thought that was a strange message).

The others are obviously a problem though.

Try typing failsafe at the boot prompt ?

Yes the altepg image boots. I used it to image a disk which is running sweet in my second tivo.

I can't, it won't accept any input from me just coughs up "hdc lost interrupt" every few seconds.

Have you considered the possibility that the drive connected as Secondary Master has problems?

Start with a boot cd with the manufacturer's diagnostics on it.

It is working perfectly in tivo. It is recognised as quantum fireball on hdc and it is not locked.

Try a different IDE cable. Either the old 40 conductor type or the newer 40 pin/80 conductor will work with that drive as long as it's a good cable.
As per my posts on the AltEPG forum replying to Alek about the same iso, I found the same issue of lost interrupts and extremely slow booting on two PCs both of which are so old that they only have USB 1.0 motherboards. All my old TiVo CDs including the 2005 version from 9th tee to install turbonet drivers work just fine.
I held off until my

TP-Link 5-Port 10/100 Unmanaged Mini Desktop Switch @ £5.79 inc delivery

as recommended by mikerr arrived.

Then I used the boot cd as supplied by drgeoff.

Followed the very simple instructions included and in a very few minutes had the disk back in tivo and making a daily call over the net. :) :) :)
