Need to download a program from my Series 3 HD

If the show is not "protected", you can download using kmttg or pytivo desktop, both described and linked to here on TCF. If the show is protected, you can do the exactly same but only if your s3HD has been hacked first (specifically: the appropriate cci bytes changed) before the show was recorded.

If the Tivo still have Tivo service and in Tivo.com preferences, sharing enabled. transferring is possible as noted above.

I could only download MPEG-PS recorded files from the Tivo HD to a PC. When Comcast switched to MPEG-TS files, I could not download files from a Tivo HD to a PC nor use Tivo.com. My only option to get files to a PC was to transfer files from the Tivo HD to a newer Tivo (with Original UI) and then download the file to the PC from the newer Tivo.

TS cannot be transferred to a PC from a Series 3.

I was referring to your tivo.com account and sharing preferences are still enabled.

I have heard that even copy protected material CAN be transferred to other media (DVD or VHS tape) via the tivo's S-Video
(or the yellow composite) and stereo outputs, in real time.

Premiere, Roamio, and Bolt but the Roamio or Bolt must have the original UI. Premiere never got the new UI.

You can download with TE4. You just can't upload to the TiVo from a PC.

This is true. ANY recording on a S3 can also be captured in HD digital format using the component output jacks, but you also need a recording device that accepts component input (e.g. a Hauppauge HD-DVR). This requires playback in real time to capture, so using pyiVo to just download directly to a PC is usually the better choice, but sometimes it is the only option.

Under System Information (Help/System Information & Info/system Information) The Tivo software version is either 20.7.xxx (TE3) or 21.xxx (TE4).

I looked in System Info and the SW version is not listed. Is it anywhere else?

Its the 3rd line from the top on my TE3 Roamio.

My SW version is 11.0n.K1-01-2-652.

Guess I am SOL.

This is not Roamio, but Series 3. You can still use programs to download shows. Tivo Desktop is still available, but no longer supported. Other programs are KMTTG (download only,) PyTivo (There are 2 versions, one version is complicated to install, other is PyTivo Desktop)

Series 3 will let you download shows but its rather slow. It also cannot download copy-protected or MPEG4 (h264).

To be fair no TiVo allows downloading of copy protected shows. (unless they're hacked)

How do I know what is copy protected and what is not?
