Hi All - I have two DirecTV Tivos and both have the black peanut remote. One unit is a Philips DSR704 and the other is a DirecTV DVR R10. I need to replace the remotes as the buttons are getting worn and the battery covers are broke (and I don't want to tape them anymore, LOL). I was wondering how I tell which remote models they are. I keep seeing things like series 2 and stuff like that. Since the remotes are expensive, I want to make sure I get the correct ones. I hope someone can help!

Thanks a bunch! :)

I use Harmony remotes, so I'm not sure I can help directly, but just to make you feel bad, there was a sale last week (on Amazon, I think), of peanut remotes for 99 cents each plus $5 S&H.

Sorry you missed it.

IIRC, the D* remotes are all the same, so there's no difference between them, but I couldn't be certain.

If you go to the Weaknees site, they will tell you which remotes to buy. Any of the Tivo remotes will work, but some have additional features that you may or may not want. I have two series 2 units, and on one I am using the series 3 remote (Tivo-Glo) because it is a learning remote (though it won't work my Hisense TV...). :(

I bought 2 of those remotes from woot.com. They are identical to the originals. A bargain for .99.
