Need help with TivoToGo and my iMac

I can't get TivoToGo to recognize my Series 2 DVR.

I have it set up wirelessly.
My PC could do transfers before I switched to the Mac.
I have the Media Access Key entered and transfers are enabled.
The Tivo itself can connect to the internet and update, and I can see the IP addy being assigned by the router.

Any ideas?
Are the "approved" wireless adapters different for Windows and OS X?

The only funky thing about my setup is that I have an xbox and the tivo going to a network switch which is hooked up to a bridge. It shouldn't be an issue, since I can see each device getting its IP from the DHCP.

It makes no difference on the adapter being used on the TiVo (Mac vs. Windows). What can make a difference is the router. Some Linksys routers block the Bonjour discovery protocol as part of their default settings -- and TiVo Transfer (and TiVo Desktop) for Mac OSX use the Bonjour discovery protocol to "find" the TiVo or your computer.

There is a way to change the setting on the Linksys routers so that it will let it work, but there's no point in going into that if it doesn't apply to you.

You can also use the Bonjour Browser application available at www.tildesoft.com -- which will show if the Macintosh is able to see the services being advertised by the TiVo using the Bonjour discovery protocol.

thanks. the router is a wired dlink with a netgear WAP riding on one of it's ports.

EDIT: So I tried the Bonjour Browser. When I opened the app, it was/is able to detect my music and photos as well as my built in ethernet's mac address??? Why isn't it detecting my airport/wireless connection?
Bonjour browser is always going to show you stuff that's on the same computer on which you're running it (Music & Photos from the Macintosh itself), but if it's not seeing the services (like HTTP) being advertised by the TiVo -- the TiVo is either not on the same network (and the same subnet) or something is blocking Bonjour.

Since you're using a combination of both a wired router and a WAP, check the IP addresses of both the Macintosh and the TiVo to see if the first three sets of values are the same (ex. 192.168.1.4 and 192.168.2.10 are not on the same sub-net)

Here's a sample screen grab I just took...

according to the router dhcp, the tivo and everything else on the network (mac included) is getting IPs in the range 192.168.0.1##. they are all on the same subnet. i'll have to read more about bonjour. what type of things would block bonjour?

the only wireless things i have on the network are the WAP, new iMac, and old PC with an linksys ethernet wireless adapter in the other room.
Do you have Toast 8? From what I understand you would need that for TTG. You can see pictures and get music from your Mac but without Toast 8 I do not think you can do much else.

yes...toast 8
If Bonjour Browser isn't showing the TiVo (like I showed in the screen grab) something is blocking the Bonjour protocol. Do you have the Mac OSX firewall running (it's in the Sharing preference pane)? If you do, try turning it off. Does either the Netgear WAP or D-Link router have any firewall or security settings that can be filtering traffic?

If Bonjour discovery isn't working, TiVo Transfer (part of Toast 8) is not going to find anything.
