So I have a 3-way conflict for both Chuck and Bionic Woman. For now, both are relegated to the den DTivo, which is fine and all, but I note that both premieres are set to repeat on Sci-Fi Channel later in the week. So I have to know - is this consistent - i.e. can I simply set up a SP for the Sci-Fi reshowings and not have to worry about my conflict? Or will these replays simply stop showing up one day. Anyone have any prior experience with this?

A friend of mine used the SciFi version of Heroes for his Season Pass last year. If I recall, he said that the guide data was less reliable on Sci Fi than on NBC. I think he missed one or two episodes because of that. This is all second-hand, so take this with a grain of salt.

They did it with Heroes last year, and it was pretty reliable. There was a rumor that the "repurposing" was going to stop halfway through the season, but it did not -- apparently NBC and SciFi came to an agreement and allowed it to continue.

Based on this, I'm setting up my season pass for "Chuck" to be the SciFi showing.

A good web site to keep track of where you can track down SF genre shows is www.sftv.org -- I got on their mailing list some time back, and once a month or so, the guy sends out the latest update, which I use to set things up on my Tivo. If the "repurposing" agreement was going to end, this site would send out that info in advance, so you would be able to re-program your Tivo based on that information.

I got over half of my Heroes from SciFi and they were in order and recorded fine. I figure at least for a while Bionic Woman will work the same but decided to take advantage of it because I watch too much TV as it is. :)

TiVo found Chuck on three networks for me -- NBC, SciFi and USA. I believe they're all owned by the same company.

I watched Heroes via SciFi last season. IIRC, there was only one discrepancy but in checking Bionic Woman's listing, it looks worse.

The episode titles listed for NBC on my Directivo are completely different than the ones listed for SciFi:

NBC: Second Chances (9/26), Paradise Lost (10/3)

SciFi: Bionic Woman (9/28), Birds (10/5)

Are these supposed to be the same episodes or is SciFi skipping around?

SciFi's run of HEROES last year was NOT reliable.

They pulled it more than once, and when starting to run it again skipped episodes.

Eventually they ran them all, but you had to wait for marathons. Even the final huge marathon at the end of the season was run totally out of order, and skipped episodes.

Don't depend totally on any SciFi runs to catch NBC shows, at least not if you want to see them in any order that makes sense.

Since I had a conflict, my DVR found Chuck on saturday on my NBC channel. That way I can get it in HD.
"Traditional" networks like NBC don't run two showings of their programs per week, as you might find on cable or with syndicated shows.

The NBC Saturday showing of CHUCK is likely something special they're doing because it's the start of the season. Don't expect it to keep running each episode twice a week.

The search engine on scifi.com's "schedulebot" page shows only one episode of CHUCK set to air, most likely the pilot.

Don't hold your breath for any others. HEROES isn't coming back to SciFi. Bionic Woman seems to be the NBC "adoption" SciFi's doing this year, and they seem to run only one NBC show at a time (and even then it's iffy...see above).

Don't rely on Sci-Fi's re-airing. I got screwed and missed quite a few episodes because of it. At least Heroes was better than Surface. Surface, they missed probably 1/3 to 1/2 of the episodes and never had a complete marathon.

It beats missing it completely though. This season I'm a bit more prepared, got a 2nd Dish receiver with a PVR. :)

I wish NBC would just do what SCI FI does.. all the shows on at 'prime time' 8pm-10pm' are
rerun again 11pm-1am ..

Last season the second run of 'atlantis' saved me from a conflict. I mean, does NBC really *need* a magic wok infomercial at 1am ? Why not just reshow the episode? They did it for all the pilot episodes... why not all season.

Don't count on it. I tried that on and off of the past couple of years and usually got burned. I've got a 3 way conflict too, and prison break has gotten the ax as a result, because I'm too lazy to set up an SP on my S1 tivo in the other room. Prison Break isn't worth that effort.

Methinks someone has no idea how the business of network TV works.

NBC doesn't run "magic wok" infomercials at 1am. That's likely your local channel.

NBC has programming running all night long. After the 11 o'clock break for the news, as of 11:35 the next three hours are taken up by The Tonight Show, Conan O'Brian, and Last Call With Carson Daly. Then there's their televised poker games....yeah....I know....followed by a half hour for local stations to do their own thing, and then a repeat of Conan followed by early morning NBC news, leading up to the Today Show.
