Great ep.

I was suprised to realize that they might actually leave Earl in prison for as long as two seasons. A bold choice. I approve.
I, on the other hand, think leaving Earl in prison more than a few episodes is likely to get incredibly tiresome. First, there's a very limited amount of work he can do on his list from prison. There can't be THAT many other prisoners on there. Second, this show is best in ensemble mode. Short vignettes in the visiting room isn't going to be enough. There needs to be more interaction between Earl and the rest of the usual cast. And third, there's just not that much funny about prison.

+1

They're going to "write" him out of prison after a few episodes.

IMHO, that's what the "Free Earl" video and advertising campaign was foreshadowing. His friends are going to find a way to get the charges dropped, or his sentence commuted or something. If that means seeing Joy's hot deaf lawyer (aka. the mayor from "Picket Fences") on a few more episodes you'll get no complaints from me. ;)

I think putting Earl in jail gives the show a new direction and pumps new blood in the show's dynamic. A good move by the writers.

I loved Joy's attempts to make Randy self sufficient. Especially the parts with the giant rubber band.
I liked when Crabman said the tuna salad wasn't as good as the chicken salad but was much better than being flipped in the neck with a big rubber band!

I was thinking the same thing. I started hitting the play button to see how far in it was. They should have made it a two-parter.
It was two parts, but shown as one hour. If you noticed the credits at the beginning you would see it noting that credits for both of the parts.

I didn't mind the 1 hour total. Stretched out over two nights would work ok I guess, but then again it was nice not having to wait to see the conclusion of stuff that started in one episode and continued to the next.

I am a big Earl fan and thought it was a great episode.

I loved all the ways the guy was going to kill him.

I too think that 4-5 episodes is the cap for jail. May get more interesting with Randy in there and now they have the problem of if they get Earl out, what about Randy.

Still, I thought the episode was great.

That would be my guess.
Leave him in jail until November sweeps then his getting out will be an event that NBC will no doubt super-size.

Besides, by having Randy in there with him, they can milk it that long.

IMO Earl needs to be in jail so that he can get by w/o needing any money.

He won $75,000 two years ago. He's been supporting himself and Randy and spending money for his list. How much if anything can he have left?
